Dice Game Post 1
Second month, second game. Being the shortest month in the year, I want to focus on keeping the scope small for this month.
I was talking with my partner about the project while trying to brainstorm what to do for this month. I was struggling a bit since I'm working with a time constraint and blank canvas. She suggested I make a teeth cleaning game. A while back I was playing a couple of different cleaning games (PowerWash Simulator, Crime Scene Cleaner), which she took note of.
She suggested a game where you play a dentist cleaning teeth. The game would zoom into the mouth of the patient while you work, and every so often you would need to perform other tasks, like fill a cavity or pull a tooth. I like the idea, but I feel it's a bit too ambitious for this month, so I figured it would be a great March game idea.
For this month, I want to keep it simple.
Rolling the Dice
The premise is simple, the player is serving orders to customers at a restaurant. But instead of food, their handing out rolled dice. Each customer will have an expected value, which can include a range of values ("1-5", or "> 3", for example). The kitchen will periodically roll a number of dice, and it's up to the player to provide the dice to each customer so that their needs are met.
The player won't be solely reliant on the kitchen. They'll have a number of addons they can provide with an order to modify the value. For example, a soda could add a +1 to the value, or a pie could add a -2 value.
If the customers aren't served in a timely matter, they'll get upset and the player loses a life. We can have the customers spawn at different times so not everyone is on the same timer. Points are earned by completing orders, with additional points provided for handing out an order quickly.
Terribly awful sketch I made in a couple of minutes:
